I think the idea of not subscribing to consumerism is doing me good. Many gadgets I'm using are really, really old.
- Nikon D70s DSLR camera - November 2005
- Sony Ericsson W880i mobile phone - August 2007
- Sandisk Sansa E280 MP3 player - December 2006
- Medion notebook - May 2004
- Dell Inspiron 1420 notebook - October 2007 (Inherited in 2009)
- Asus EEEPC 701 - May 2008
- Canon LIDE20 scanner - January 2005
- Garmin Forerunner 405 - December 2008
The only newish gadgets I'm using are mostly my LED torchlights and my external HDDs. I think my 1TB WDC was bought sometime in 2009 (or maybe 2008) and my Hitachi in May 2010.
I hope I can continue with this good work, though I'm actually planning on buying a new desktop sometime in the next few months and possibly an 11-12" netbook, though my EEEPC suffices for my current on-the-go computing needs. Even then, my desktop will be low-endish; planning to get an Athlon II X2 260, AMD890GX-based mobo, 16GB RAM and 2TB HDD.
